Open to the public, The National Horseracing Museum contains collections and records of people and horses involved in the sport of horse racing from its Royal origins to modern heroes. Exhibits include the history of horse racing, horse racing in Britain, trophies, paintings of famous horses, trainers and jockeys, jockey uniforms, betting, and horse racing memorabilia.
But if its fun you are after, make your way to the Practical Gallery in the museum. Dress up in racing silks and take a ride on the racehorse simulator. Talk to the staff and hear what life is like as stable lad, jockey or trainer – straight from the horse’s mouth!
The National Horseracing Museum and Palace House Stables will be open for visitors during the 2013 Newmarket Open Day.
